Emma Tippins – Employment and Education Coordinator

Emma moved from Far North QLD to Toowoomba and found it difficult to adjust to the cooler winter months. Emma enjoys coffee, gardening, camping and more coffee. Over the years Emma has studied psychology, education and worked in a number of roles in the human services sector.  Most recently, Emma has worked with children with disabilities and mental health challenges as well as working in Indigenous communities on health and hygiene programs for young women. Emma’s role at Toowoomba Clubhouse is to help members identify their training and employment goals and help them on their pathway to achieving these. Emma is quite competitive when it comes to board games and believes that avocado’s should be cheaper.

Who would play you in a film?  Emma Watson, we’re close in age and I feel like I would sound better with an English accent.

If you were planning a music festival, who – dead or alive – would be your headliner? I like Michael Jackson. He’s entertaining and I love his music.

You're given an airplane ticket to anywhere in the world – where do you choose to go? Europe – I’ve never been and would like to see all the popular places to see (but in real life).

What's your favourite memory? My wedding. It was the only time where all our family and friends were together at once and I loved that.

Who is your inspiration? Mother Earth inspires me. It amazes me that you can have no human input and yet plants and ecosystems flourish. I find it really fascinating how things form and grow and adapt to own environment. That, to me, is inspirational.

You're on a deserted island – what have you brought with you? An avocado tree. Endless avocado to sustain me forever....hopefully.

Why Toowoomba Clubhouse? I’ve always wanted to work in mental health but specifically I wanted to work somewhere that’s a positive place for people with mental illness. Some mental health services are very dry and serious. I believe Clubhouse balances the fun and friendly with the supportive and professional service.
