Toowoomba Clubhouse Camp 2020
Exciting news for members, we have voted for our camp venue for 2020. The winning venue is Luther Heights Youth Camp at Coolum Beach on the Sunshine Coast. The building we are staying in is the newly built Ocean Outlook which is a terraced lodge overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The official camp date will be the 25th to the 27th of May as the original planned date was unavailable. This new date will give members more time to save up and will give cooler weather for walking but sea temperature should still be pleasant around 24°C. According to the weather forecast, temperatures will be above average.
The cost of the camp remains the same price of $195 which includes transport, accommodation and all meals; breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner. We have invited Canefields Clubhouse from Logan and Stepping Stone Clubhouse from Coorparoo in Brisbane to join us. There has been a good level of interest and we wait to hear more from them.
Our suggestion is to budget to save $10 per week – that’s subtracting $20 per fortnightly pay cheque! Setting that money aside each pay, and resisting the innumerable temptations to spend that money elsewhere which may make budgeting a challenge is the key to budgeting for camp. If you find you need help with saving money, you can chose to have your savings towards camp held for you at Clubhouse to ensure you’ll be "best dressed" when it comes to the due date for payment!
On Wednesday 26 February at 1:00pm, a Lifeline Financial Counsellor will be holding a Life Skills seminar entitled ‘How to Save for the Camp’. Please join us to learn more about saving for Camp and other budgeting skills.
