Member Profile: Kamie B
One of our members Kamie talks to Member Jules M about her success with Social Services.
Kamie did not anticipate searching for employment as she is now. She’s just completed a six month course in social services – and got through unexpectedly. She thinks it would be nice to work with migrants, or anyone in our community.
Kamie finds new arrivals intriguing but perhaps a little extra guidance could be used. To make up for the shortness of her online course, (six months in the classroom, Kamie is committed now to a further 120 hours on work placement before receiving her pass certification.)
Kamie doesn’t know if she’ll have an income to rely on during this work placement. She may have to rely on the DSP still until she gains her pass grade!
Community services providers include peer support, job agencies, child support or any social need, and this would include old age and disability support!
It will be nice to know how things progress from here - and hopefully how Kamie graduates. We wish Kamie the best of success.
